Taiwan Improve In FIFA World Rankings

Taiwan’s men’s side have moved up 3 places in the latest FIFA world rankings. In doing so, the Blue Wings have stopped, at least for now, their gradual slide down the standings. Having started 2024 ranked 153th, a run of seven consecutive defeats resulted in their lowest ranking since September 2016. This was canceled out by an impressive win in Singapore, who were several places higher than Taiwan in the rankings.

As well as being ranked 168th in the world, Taiwan are also ranked 33rd out of 46 Asian countries. The highest ranked AFC side is Japan at 15th in the global standings. The most improved AFC side is the United Arab Emirates, who rose five spots and are now ranked 63rd.

Given the remaining AFC schedule, the rankings will be updated again before the end of the calendar year. Indeed, the upcoming EAFF preliminary stage will see Taiwan play at least two more games. A couple of wins would give them a considerable boost in the final rankings announce of the 2024 calendar year.
