Following an official board meeting on Monday for the Chinese Tapei Football Association (CTFA), a number of critical appointments were made within the organizing body for Taiwanese football. But, as noted by Go Goal, there was also a notable departure, and one that might raise alarm bells for Taiwan football fans.
Indeed, it now appears that national team technical director Mehmet Fatih Kale, who was only recently hired by the CTFA has resigned after less than six months in the job.
According to Go Goal, Fatih Kale ‘had many disagreements with the executive [body] on several national team training plans at all levels, and most importantly, there was no unified authority [regarding] resource and funding allocation, and everything had to be reported before a decision could be made’.
For context, Fatih Kale is a long-term fixture within Taiwanese football. Although, born in Turkey, he was granted Taiwanese citizenship in 2018 as a reward for years of involvement in grassroots football on the island. Having coached in Taiwan for almost two decades, Fatih Kale had already served one stint as national technical director back in 2017.
What happens next obviously remains to be seen. It is also unclear how this affects the future of Gary White, whose contract is also up in a few months.
