A seemingly imperious Hang Yuan continue to march towards their first ever title after another clinical win whilst Valkyrie picked up a rare but well earned victory in the most recent round of games in the Mulan League.
AC Taipei: 0 – Valkyrie FC: 1
Valkyrie grabbed an unexpected win but had to do it the hard way. Indeed, AC Taipei had a number of excellent chances but each time, they were turned back by the heroics of keeper, Chu Fang-yi.
With Chu stopping everything, Valkyrie were able to weather the storm until the 79th minute when Fu Chih-ling uncorked the perfect through-ball from just inside the halfway line. With AC Taipei’s defense caught too high, Kao Hsin was able to get onto the pass and the teenage striker won the game with a looping shot that flew into the corner of the net.
Hang Yuan: 3 – Taipei Bravo: 0
Hang Yuan did what they needed to do to remain top of the standings as they took on a Taipei Bravo that have not won a game so far this season. The league leaders got their first goal in calamitous fashion when Wu Zhi-ying’s clearance deflected off teammate Liu Wen-ling before falling kindly for Hang Yuan’s Pan Yen-hsin, who then headed the ball home from close range.
Hang Yuan quickly scored again, albeit in more elegant fashion. He Jia-shiuan found an onrushing Kano Miyamoto with a nice through ball before the Japanese forward cut inside the penalty box and scored with a powerful effort. Shortly after halftime, Liu Yu-chiao made it three-nil with a close range volley after a great cross from the left flank by national team player, Su Sin-yun.
Kaohsiung Attackers: 1 – Hualien FC: 0
Kaohsiung opened the scoring just before halftime when Ting Chi scored at the second time of asking after her initial shot was saved at close range by the Hualien keeper.
The Attackers rode their luck but were able to escape with three points after a frantic last twenty seconds of play which saw Hualien FC hit the bar and twice had a shot cleared off the line.
Taichung Blue Whale: 3 – Taichung Sakura: 1
In the Taichung derby, the Blue Whales scored first as Maho Tanaka finished off a mazy run with a swerving shot into the bottom right corner. Tanaka soon doubled her tally for the day by cooly finishing a one-on-one with the keeper.
Taichung kept on scoring and with seventy minutes played, Lin Ya-hsian got on the end of Chang Chi-lan‘s teasing near post cross and finished from a tight angle. Sakura got a goal late on when veteran Lai Li-chin scored directly from a corner after Tsai Ming-jung totally misjudged the flight of the ball but it was too little, too late.
