Although the decision felt like a formality after two recent wins over Indonesia and Nepal, women’s coach Prasobchoke Chokemor appears to have been upgraded from interim to the full-time manager of the Taiwan women’s team.
The Thai national stepped in after the resignation of Chan Hiu Ming in August. The announcement to extend Chokemormade was found in the most recent set of minutes from the Chinese Taipei Football Association and then spotted by the eagle eyes of local football pundit, Liu Chao-chen.
The decision to retain Chokemor is a much needed injection of stability after a difficult few months that saw the sudden resignation of the previous coach and the cancelation of the first women’s game on home soil for several years. Now the Mulan can go forward into the finals of the upcoming Women’s AFC Cup with a settled coach that has familiarity with the team.
Chokemor has been involved with the national team set-up for both men and women for the last two years. His knowledge of football in Taiwan will be critical as the team looks to have a strong start and potentially even auto-qualify for the 2027 women’s World Cup if they make the knockout phases of the AFC Finals.
