World Cup Prelims Loom For Womens NT

The draw for the Inter-Confederation Play-offs was made this afternoon and now the Taiwanese womens team know who they will face in their final opportunity to qualify for the Womens World Cup in 2027.

Although the set-up is somewhat complicated, the preliminary draw has put Taiwan and five other teams from various FIFA regions into an initial qualifying group. The top two teams from this group will then advance to a final stage where they will play one last round of qualifiers against nations from the North America and Europe regions. Three teams from this final bracket will advance to the World Cup in Brazil.
On paper, Taiwan are among the stronger teams in this preliminary group. Ranked 40th in the FIFA global rankings, They will play South Africa (57th), Papua New Guinea (58th), and Ecuador (60th) in a group that also includes those Uzbekistan and Ghana.
The games are set to be played in late November and early December at a location that is yet to be announced. That being said, The Mulan will be looking at this group and expecting to advance to the final qualification phase that would be played in February 2027.
